Nu-Rock, a leading construction brick manufacturer, is introducing sustainability and employment opportunities in the Lithgow Region. With its emissions-free production facility in the Mount Piper Power Station precinct, Nu-Rock is making a significant impact on the local economy.
The Nu-Rock Pre-Employment Program was designed to equip local residents with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to Nu-Rock's operations. By partnering with Workforce Australia Local Jobs and leveraging federal government funding, the program aimed to address the demand for skilled workers and create sustainable employment solutions within the region.
The program spanned three weeks and provided participants with comprehensive training, including work experience, workplace health and safety (WHS) protocols, White Card training, and forklift license. This approach ensured that graduates were well-prepared for potential employment at the Nu-Rock facility.
The success of the Nu-Rock Pre-Employment Program was made possible through collaboration with various stakeholders, including Workforce Australia Local Jobs, federal funding from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, as well as the support of Verto, Joblink Plus, OCTEC, Sureway Employment, and Nu-Rock itself.
Fifteen participants successfully completed the program and not only gained valuable skills but also represent a tangible investment in the region's workforce, ensuring that Nu-Rock's operations are supported by a pool of skilled workers.
